JAMMU, Aug 8: Vigyan Parishad, a local chapter of Vigyan Bharati- VIBHA, Prant Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, in collaboration with IIIM (CSIR) Jammu, today released Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM), annual calendar of the activities for the year 2023.
The VVM program has the backing and support of NCERT and NCSM as its national program for popularizing science among school students, conceptualized to identify bright minds with scientific aptitude.
The event was graced by Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director, IIIM (CSIR) and Professor Rajni Kant, President, Vigyan Parishad, and his team, including Prof Praveen Lehana, Dr Dhiraj Vyas and other office bearers.
Prof Rajni Kant highlighted the importance of this national talent hunt examination which is held once in a year for the students of class 6th to 11th in General Science streams. The examination is being conducted nationally and the conduct of this online examination is the first step which is followed by a state level one day camp organized for the first 20 students from each class. The first three students from each class participating in the state level camp are awarded a citation and prize money is given as a token of encouragement.
Through the brochure release function, the Principals, school teachers, students and their parents were called upon to encourage the youngsters to participate in this event so that the spirit of participation in science competitions is inculcated in the young minds.
Dr Zabeer Ahmed, while throwing light on the importance of science for the development of the region, encouraged maximum participation of youth in such talent hunt programs for the growth of society and the nation. He cited examples how the researches made in the CSIR laboratory have impacted the civil society.
The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr Dhiraj Vyas, Senior Principal Scientist, IIIM, Jammu, as Secretary. The event was coordinated by Tinny Sawhney, State Coordinator, VVM J&K. Besides having a significant number of participants, Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Vice-President, Vigyan Parishad, Samir Vohra, Organizing Secretary and other members of Vigyan Parishad were present on the occasion.
