JAMMU, Aug 9: A truck conductor from Kupwara District drowned in a canal here, police said today.
They said after unloading his truck, Faizal (18) son of Abdul Ahad Madri of Magam area of Kupwara was taking bath in the canal at Domana area on Tuesday evening when he was swept away by the water currents.
After he was pulled out of the canal, Faizal was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu where he was declared as dead on arrival, said police.
While the body of the deceased youth has been shifted to the mortuary room of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem, inquest proceedings have also been initiated by the police.
