JAMMU, Aug 9: People of Ward number 39 in Top Sherkhania area here today staged a protest demonstration against installing of smartmeters, imposing Property Tax and revoking of old age pension by the government.
The protest was led by Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Councillor of Ward number 39 wherein a large number of locals of the area including women raised slogans against the hefty electricity bills which are being issued after the installation of Smart Power Meters.
Addressing the protesters Rajinder Singh said that some households even received power bills of Rs. 3-4 lakh.
He said that the government should immediately start pensions for old age, physically challenged people and widows which was stopped some months back.
The protesters also demanded that the Property Tax should be withdrawn from J&K.
