JAMMU, Aug 9: The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch (CB) of Jammu has arrested an absconder after nine years.
A CB spokesperson said that Bilal Ahmed Handoo alias Doctor Sahib of Firdous Colony, Bemina, Srinagar, was wanted in case FIR number 23/2012 registered at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu, for his involvement in duping a complainant of his hard earned money on the pretext of arranging Government jobs for his children.
He said the absconder was constantly evading his arrest by changing his locations for the past nine years as the charge-sheet against the accused among other co-accused persons was produced before the court of law in 2014 for judicial determination after allegations of cheating and fraud were substantiated and proved against all the accused during the course of investigation.
“Since the accused was on a run to evade his arrest, the Court had issued arrest warrant against the accused,” he said.
Consequent upon his arrest, the culprit has been brought to justice by producing him before the court of law for judicial determination, added the CB spokesperson.
With the arrest of Handoo, the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu has thus far arrested 8 absconders in last 9 weeks.
