RAJOURI, Aug 11: Several areas adjoining Narrian and Jagjir Panchayat  of Rajouri district have yet to get a footbridge which the locals needs in order to reach their respective destinations as they have no other option  to cross a big Nallah by putting their lives at risk.
Despite repeated pleas of the locals to construct a foot bridge  District Administration paid no heed to provide these people a footbridge so that they don’t have to put their lives at risk during rains and flood.
During rainy season   locals  are seen carrying children and elderly people on their shoulders to help them to cross the Nallah. Locals told that with no foot bridge in their area they are forced to cross the stream with bags on their heads. A student of the village said that people have been suffering due to lack of proper connectivity in the area.
Jagmohan Kour, Sarpanch Panchayat Narian told that people are forced to live the life which our parents used to live as there is no change here in terms of footbridge and roads as a project of 3 km under NABARD submitted but till now it was not approved. She demanded that either footbridge or road to be constructed at the earliest.
Locals further added that they are waiting for the construction of a bridge over thus stream/ Nallah but nothing has been done so far.
The area have population of more than 3000 souls which is suffering in the absence of a proper connectivity,.  It would be far easy for the people to cross over if a bridge is constructed over the Nallah.
Locals requested Lt Governor to take serious note of it and direct the district administration to construct a bridge here and approve road project under NABARD so that the people of the adjoining areas have a sigh of relief.
