JAMMU, Aug 11: Taranjit Singh Tony was accorded a rousing reception by a gathering of panchs, sarpanchs and workers of Congress Party upon his arrival in Jammu this evening, marking his affiliation with the nation’s oldest political party.
Tony attributed his decision to join Congress Party to the inspiring impact of Bharat Jodo Yatra initiated by Rahul Gandhi and the resolute efforts of the newly elected president of Jammu and Kashmir, Vikar Rasool Wani and J&K prabhari and Rajya Sabha Member, Rajni Patil.
He highlighted the high standards of welcome extended to him during his induction ceremony in New Delhi, which saw the presence of prominent figures including the Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary KC Venugopal. Among the distinguished personalities were Rajni Patil, Manoj Yadav, Vikar Rasool Wani, Raman Bhalla, GA Mir and Tariq Hameed Karra.
Addressing the party workers in Jammu, Tony emphasized the importance of upholding the Congress Party’s people-friendly policies and spreading the message of communal harmony and brotherhood at the grassroots level. He underlined the party’s commitment to serving the interests of the people and contributing to the betterment of society.
Tony asked the Party cadre to initiate a resolute campaign against the BJP, highlighting its substantial failure in meeting the public’s expectations. He called for a widespread grassroots effort, emphasizing the need to engage with every household, enlightening them about the BJP’s unfulfilled promises and shortcomings since the 2014 and 2019 elections.
Tony emphasized that the moment has arrived to deliver a fitting response to the BJP’s inadequacies, in the ensuing polls in J&K.
