Constitute Commission to probe killings of Pandits: KPC

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Aug 12: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) reiterated it’s demand of constituting a Commission of Enquiry under Supreme Court Judge for ethnic cleansing, of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley in 1989 -90.
Kashmir Pandits in general and Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC ) in particular expressed its anger and anguish for delaying and denying the investigations of killing of innocent Kashmiri Pandits in Valley that led to forced exodus of the community, KPC president, Kundan Kashmir said in a statement here, today.
Kundan Kashmiri, said it is again a big joke and humiliation for whole community that besides the deliberate delay in the investigation of killings of several hundred Kashmiri Pandits by terrorists since the beginning of the insurgency in Kashmir , now Government has picked up only a single case of Neelkanth Ganjoo through State Investigation Agency ( SIA) , ignoring the investigation to other cases.
He said it has further festered the wounds of ethnic cleansings as such a probe could have worked towards ascertaining the facts, identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators of the violence against the nationalist KPs and exposed the tormentors and others who alleged that KPs have left on their own and labelled them as migrants, instead of being victim of genocide.
The Jammu and Kashmir police and it’s allied agencies have miserably failed to make any progress in hundreds of FIRs lying pending with them from the last 34 years.
He said the police statistics on the killings of KPs by terrorists include the Sangrampora, Wandhama and Nadimarg massacres. Seven Pandits were killed during the intervening night of March 21-22, 1997 at Sangrampora village in Budgam; 23 Innocent KPs were killed in Wandhama on January 25, 1998; 24 innocent Kashmiri Pandits were killed at Nadimarg village on March 24, 2003, he added.
Kashmiri, said that still all these perpetrators and killers of Pandits are untraced.
KPC chief sad that first survey made in this regard by the community at least 400 innocent Pandits had been killed since 19 89 –90 which was submitted to police and other Government authorities and further estimate about total number of these innocents killed will be around a thousand above during the last 34 years by the terrorists which needs thorough probe.
