KATHUA, Dec 23: Experts from Gujarat State Petroleum Limited (GSPL) a unit of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) from Gujarat gave a power point presentation here today on the Rs 10,000 crore Bhatinda-Jammu- Srinagar Gas Pipeline.
This was a step forward to the meeting convened by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu in September this year regarding identification of route for the gas pipeline from Kathua to Srinagar in Kashmir Valley.
Besides, the officers of the GSPL, the officers of district administration representatives of various Government Departments participated in the meeting.
The meeting among others was attended by Abdul Hamid Consultant of GSPL and its advisor Mr Goswami.
Out of Rs 10,000 crore, Rs 1000 crore will be spent on the project in J&K, said Mr Hamid. He said the pipe will pass through Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur Ramban, Anantnag Pulwama and reach Srinagar.
The pipeline will pass through 37 villages of Kathua district alone and the meeting held discussions with the representatives of the departments so that there is no overlapping and wastage of time in allotment of land.
There will be a joint inspection of the route and involvement of the farmers whose land will be used for pipe line, he added.
Terming it a big ambitious project he said it will help in employment generation.
Mr Hamid said that the GSPL will place indent with State Government first for the land and then compensation will be paid for land use.
The one feet dia pipe will be embedded 3 feet in the ground on which the farmers can do the normal farming but they can’t raise the permanent structures and plant trees on the land where from the pipe is leading.
The notification for the land use will be issued and in the first phase the Kathua, Samba and Jammu district will be touched, he added.
