Educational institutions celebrate 77th Independence Day with patriotic fervour

JAMMU, Aug 14: The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and zeal by various educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir as they organized a range of activities to remember our freedom fighters and proudly unfurled the National Flag.
The office of Dean Research studies and Departments of Botany and Zoology, Cluster University of Jammu (CUJ) celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor. Vice Chancellor CUJ Prof Bechan Lal along with students and staff took “Punch Pran Pledge” for National integration and development of nation. The function was preceded with floral tribute to martyrs who followed with cultural activities and concluded with National Anthem. The faculty members of both botany and zoology departments graced the occasion.
The Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Jammu University in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) commemorated Independence Day by organizing an event on the theme: “Many Languages, One expression: India”. The students highlighted the diversity of India by pledging PM Modi’s ‘Paanch Praan’ in different languages of J&K. Vikas Sharma (Deputy Director, Information), Shruti Awasthi (Regional Director, IGNCA) and Dr Garima Gupta (HoD Journalism, JU) graced the occasion.
Institute of Management Sciences (IMS), Jammu celebrated the Day in its campus along with the faculty members and students of Management and Computer Sciences departments. The celebration initiated with the flag raising ceremony hoisted by Vidhi S Singh, Chairman JGEI along with Renu Bangroo, Managing Director, JGEI. A Speech Competition on the topic – “Crumbling Secularism in the current political scenario of the Nation” was organized on the occasion.
University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu celebrated the Day under “Meri Maati Mera Desh- Mitti ko Naman Veeron ko Vandan” campaign. The Day began with a vibrant Tiranga Rally under the leadership of Dr Meenakshi Kilam (Rector, Kathua Campus, JU) which commenced from the Navgrah Vatika and culminated at Kendriya Vidyalaya Kathua. Later the celebrations were followed by captivating cultural performances.
To mark the occasion, a rally was taken off from by the NSS volunteers of KC College of Education from the College premises to nearby Udheywala area and back to the College under the banner ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Dr Sanjay Tickoo lauded the efforts of the students for their overwhelming participation in the whole event. The programme was convened by Priya Gupta, NSS Programme Officer.
NSS unit of GCW Bhagwati Nagar in collaboration with IQAC, organized a Rally as a tribute to the martyrs and freedom fighters who bestowed on us the freedom. Flags were carried by faculty members and students during the Rally which was flagged off by Dr Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College. Patriotic slogans were chanted by the students and faculty members as they swayed the flags with pride and enthusiasm.
Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Jammu hosted the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ event in anticipation of the 77th Independence Day. More than 400 enthusiastic students and citizens participated in the event, besides distinguished dignitaries viz. V Babu – Joint Director (RDSDE) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), GM Bhat – Joint Director of Skill Development Department Jammu and AR Sheikh – Principal Government ITI Jammu.
The cultural committee and NSS Unit of GDC Vijaypur organized a series of activities to celebrate Independence Day. The celebration initiated with lightning of the lamp by the Principal, Dr Vandana Gupta and by guests of honour – families of the two martyrs namely Shaheed Swarn Singh Badhoria, RFN of 16JAKLI and Shaheed Naresh Kumar, Sepoy of COBRA 197 Battalion. Students of the College presented various cultural items including patriotic songs, poems and dance items.
In Heritage School Jammu, the celebrations began with an array of performances that stirred the hearts of all in attendance. The rhythmic beats of a dance performance echoed the rich cultural diversity of India. In the Primary wing, the special assembly commenced with a heartwarming performance by Amaya Gupta from class 1E, who played the iconic song “Saare Jahan Se Acha” on the Casio. Principal Akash Pradhan emphasized that celebrating freedom goes beyond mere rituals.
The Shri Ram Universal School Jammu celebrated 77th Independence Day with gaiety. Chief guest, Surendera Kumar (Commandant, 161 Battalion, BSF) hoisted the National Flag. A cultural programme based on patriotism was presented by the students at the School auditorium. Principal, Col VK Sharma (Retired) in his address to the students emphasized that we as citizens of this great Nation are duty bound to safeguard it in whatever way we can.
Maharaja Harisingh Agricultural Collegiate School Nagbani, Jammu celebrated the Day with great fervor and gaiety. Principal Brij Mohan congratulated the students on this day. To honour the past and celebrate the present there were fascinating speeches and patriotic performances. Group song presentation with special emphasis on Dogra culture of J&K was the main attraction.
The campus of DPS Nagbani was nicely decorated with tri- colour flags and flowers on the occasion. A cultural programme was held in the School and students participated in it. A skit portraying the freedom fighters of India was depicted on the occasion. Principal Raj Kumar Verma and Headmistress Bhawan Madaan addressed the school regarding the value of freedom and how it was achieved by the sacrifices of our freedom fighters.
MMI Jammu wore a festive look today as the entire school was decorated with tricolor balloons and buntings in commemoration of 77th Independence Day. Dressed in colourful clothes, the tiny tots of the School presented patriotic songs, poems and dances. Earlier, MD of the School, Sapna Rohmetra unfurled the National Flag, which was followed by recitation of National Anthem by staff and students of the School.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s (ABVP) ‘Student For Seva’ team in Jammu Mahanagar organized a heartwarming Independence Day celebration in the slum area near Dogra Chowk. The event was aimed at spreading joy among the children of the basti and fostering a spirit of patriotism among them. The team distributed kites and the National flags to the children, eliciting radiant smiles and a sense of excitement.
GK Educational Trust celebrated Independence Day at GKITR Jammu. All the students participated enthusiastically in the celebration. Chief Guest Shamsher Singh Manhas (Ex MP) interacted with the students and motivated them by sharing his experiences. Chairman of GK Educational Trust Gourav Khajuria emphasized the role of education and skill training in the development of the country. The event was brought to close by the singing of the National Anthem.
To commemorate the sovereignty of our Nation, the students dressed in the vibrant colours of the nation – green, white and saffron performed a medley of heart touching patriotic songs at Rich Harvest School. This was followed by a dance performance, wherein the students channelized their determination and resilience to persist despite the hurdles, into a power-packed, impactful dance along the tunes of “Kar Har Maidan Fateh”.
IDPS Akhnoor celebrated Independence Day with great pomp and show. Inspector Zaheer Manhas SHO Akhnoor was chief guest on the occasion. Colourful patriotic songs were presented by all houses of the School. Principal KCS Mehta threw light on sacrifices given by freedom fighters for throwing British rulers out of the country. Earlier, MD Dr Dheeraj Sharma along with chief guest hoisted the National Flag.
Dogra Higher Secondary School celebrated the Day with great zeal and exhilaration. Students all geared up with patriotic fervour. The Program was vibrant with waving of Tiranga and chanting of “Vande Mataram” & “Jai Hind” by the students. The students of pre-primary and primary classes presented their love for nation with their patriotic poems and topics in lilting voice. Chief Guest Gambhir Dev Singh Charak (MD of the School) along with Principal Devinder Kour hoisted the Tricolour.
An impressive function was organized at ASN Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat, Jammu. Rakesh Kumar (Joint Commissioner, Revenue & Enforcement, J&K) was the chief guest on the occasion while PB Kapoor (Principal of the School) presided over the function. Various cultural items were presented on the occasion by the students. Further, merit holders in class 12th examination were honoured by the School management.
The premises of Stephens International Public School wore a festive tri – colour look as the day set in for the Independence Day Celebrations eve. Director Satvinder Saini presided over the function along with the Principal Rama Jamwal and Vice Principal Manjari Sehgal. The students presented a conglomeration of the cultural treasure of our country which portrayed the vivid diversity. Tiny tots of the school left all speechless with their oratory skills highlighting the importance of the day.
The Day was celebrated at Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Sainik Colony (Jammu) with usual fervor and in the spirit of harmony. The National Flag was unfurled and thereafter National Anthem was sung by the students and staff members. A cultural program was also presented by the students.
The celebrations commenced in St Xavier Convent School with School Director HR Padha hoisting the National Flag followed by singing of National Anthem by the attendees. Thereafter, various cultural performances were presented by students of different classes exhibiting unity in diversity. In the end, Vice Principal Mridhu Padha delivered a short speech.
Arun Sharma Sports and Social Welfare Trust today celebrated the Independence Day at its Handball training facility within the SD Sabha School Complex, Jammu. Joined by the senior international players of the Union Territory, the young players of the Trust made presentations on the eve of Independence Day. In the meantime, the senior players Gourav Sharma, Sahil Padha, Bachan Dogra (coach) and Sanjay Manhas briefed the young players about the importance of the Day.
A special assembly was conducted by students of the distinguished wings of Humanity Public School to celebrate the occasion. Principal Gaurav Charak along with members of the school management unfurled the National Flag. This was followed by recitation of National Anthem by all the attendees.
To mark the occasion, a Slogan Writing/Painting Competition was organized at Bhargava Public School Samba for the students of 6th to 11th classes on the topics ‘Unity in Diversity’ and ‘Say No to Drugs’ by Excise Department Samba. Earlier, the Principal of the School Subhash Kumar congratulated the students and staff for Independence Day.
The Day was commemorated with pomp and show at Bal Bharti School, Channi Himmat. Children recited patriotic songs, poems and slogans on Independence Day. Principal Vikram Singh in his address briefed the students about sacrifices made by our freedom fighters.
A week-long celebration was held in Surabhi Nursery School and Day Care Centre, PG Department of Home Science, University of Jammu, which culminated today in a beautiful cultural bonanza by the students of the School and Master’s students of Department of Home Science. Prof Rahul Gupta (Registrar JU) was the chief guest on the occasion. The little children of the School presented cards to Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai and Prof Rahul Gupta.
Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at IMA School, RS Pura. Students from all the classes participated in this celebration. Chairman Ekta Mahajan and Principal Nitin Mahajan jointly hoisted the Tricolour.
Students of Bachpan (a play school at Kathua) celebrated 77th Independence Day with enthusiasm. Students were beautifully dressed according to the occasion as freedom fighters. UKG Students presented a patriotic skit to display their respect for freedom fighters and LKG students performed on patriotic songs. Principal Manisha Gupta elaborated the significance of Independence to the students.
