JAMMU, Aug 14: The Bhajan Sandhya, sixth in series, in celebration of the Sawan Mahotsav was held today at Panjvaktra Mahadev Temple. It was a spiritual experience, of its own kind, for devotees which would be cherished and etched deeply in their minds for long.
Pinka Bali, daughter and disciple of Prof BS Bali, doyen of classical music of this region and Jasmeet Kaur, daughter of renowned classical singer Prof Sudershan Kaur Kirti and disciple of legendry Pt Rajan & Sajan Mishra and Maestro Pt Hanuman Prasad Mishra of Banaras Gharana, captivated devotees by singing devotional bhajans.
Pinka started her recital with Mahadev Stuti mesmerizing the devotees. She followed it with bhajan of Mata and a stuti enhancing the spiritual mood. Jasmeet Kaur, thereafter, elevated the devotional fervour created in the devotees by enthralling them by singing a bandish in Shree Raga. She, in her inimitable style, glided devotees to devotional ecstasy by singing Shiva Bhajans one after the other, rendering them spell bound.
The excellent interplay between singers and accompanists, Guru Parshotam Kumar on Pakhawaj, Amarjeet Singh on Violin, Rakesh Anand on Flute, Pankaj Pradhan on Harmonium and Vinay on Tabla, created a deep impact on the audience and left them wonderstruck.
Sawan Mahotsav, in the transcendental ambience of ancient Mahadev Mandir; first of its kind ever in the history of Jammu, has succeeded in carving out a vibrant sacred space for itself, in the spiritual and cultural landscape of the City.
