Narcotics Anonymous meets for victims to lead drug free life

JAMMU, Aug 17: Narcotics Anonymous Jammu, an organization working to provide a way of life to the addicts who want to lead a drug free life, today shared its vision and agenda for the victims of drug addiction.
In the presence of SP City, North, Kulbeer Handa and Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Vipin Sharma, Secretary of Narcotics Anonymous and Preet Singh, RDA Sosona India, shared details of the organization, which has been organizing regular meetings in Jammu since 2006 where recovering addicts met to help each other stay clean and find a new way of life.
“Recovered drug victims are meeting regularly and helping other victims to make a comeback in main stream,” they said and shared their helpline number 9086597717 as well as mail id jammu.asc@gmail.com so that anyone who requires guidance and help in this regards could approach them.
They introduced 12-Step Program of Narcotics Anonymous (NA), as its existence and presence in the different States & cities in India. The Narcotics Anonymous message is that “an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live.”
“Our intent is to share this message broadly so that those who may benefit from our program of recovery can approach us,” they said and added the primary service provided by Narcotics Anonymous is the NA group meeting.
“Each group runs itself based on principles common to the entire organization, which are expressed in NA’s literature. NA’s primary approach to recovery is its belief in the therapeutic value of one addict helping another,” he explained.
City SP North, Kulbeer Handa during the presentation assured all assistance from police department and also detailed the number of FIRs registered, arrests and seizure of narcotics, by Jammu police in eradicating drug abuse.
Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal shared his vast experience of nine years in creating mass awareness among youth about ill effects of drug abuse in Jammu region. He also put forth suggestions to help drug victims in making way of living new life and contributing towards nation building.
