SRINAGAR, Aug 18: Police in Pulwama today arrested a jeweller, who, as per the police, was involved in a counterfeit gold ornament scam.
According to the details shared by the police, they received a series of complaints against the jeweller named Sajad Ah Zargar who operates a gold shop called Diamond Jewellers at AL-Ahmad complex near Shaheed Farooq Chowk, Pulwama.
Allegedly, police said, he deceived customers with counterfeit gold ornaments and had been engaging in this fraudulent activity for an extended period.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested the accused jeweller who was involved in the commission of the crime.
He was then shifted to the police station where he currently remains in custody. The police stated, “Accordingly, a case FIR No. 210/2023 was registered at Police Station Pulwama, and a thorough investigation has been initiated.”
The arrest follows a meticulous investigation into allegations of counterfeit gold ornaments being sold to innocent customers, shedding light on a series of complaints against the accused, police said.
