Srinagar, Aug 19: Aiming to reclaim and rejuvenate the natural landscape, the Nageen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) has embarked on a pivotal mission – the retrieval of marshy land encircling Khushalsar Lake from the Sazaripora side.
This landmark initiative, a core facet of NLCO’s Mission Ehsaas, is poised to put an end to decades of encroachment, heralding a new era of environmental revival in the region, declared Manzoor Wangnoo, President of NLCO.
Highlighting the dire need for action, Wangnoo emphasized, “The negligence and encroachment that have persisted for decades have taken a toll on the natural splendour and ecological equilibrium encompassing Khushalsar and Gilsar Lakes. However, NLCO’s unwavering commitment to the restoration of marshy lands is now bearing fruit, a testament to our dedication to environmental conservation and community well-being.”
“With the initiation of NLCO’s Mission Ehsaas, a transformative shift is underway. This initiative aims to rejuvenate these lands into communal assets, ensuring their sustainable utilization for future generations,” Wangnoo noted.
Wangnoo expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support received from the LG administration, SMC, LC&MA, and all stakeholders who unitedly rallied behind the cause.
As per NLCO, the retrieval process, commencing from the Sazaripora side, holds a promise to breathe new life into the vicinity of Khushalsar Lake, paving the way for a flourishing haven for flora, fauna, and residents alike.
