JAMMU, Dec 24: On the eve of National Consumer Rights Day, Consumer Protection Organization in collaboration with Trikuta Group of Colleges organized a programme with a view to spread awareness about the rights of consumers.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Sain Charitable Trust, Dr Roop Lal Sharma threw light on consumer rights and underlined the need for educating people about the rights of consumers.
Dr Sharma said that information about the consumer protection laws need to be spread so that the people could approach to the competent authority for redressal of their grievances.
Chairperson Trikuta Group of Colleges, Suman Sharma was the chief guest, who while speaking said that on this day, Consumer Protection Act was enacted in 1986 to provide speedy and inexpensive justice to consumers.
She said that the younger generation should commit themselves to educate the masses about the consumer rights.
President Retailer Federation, Yash Paul Gupta, President, Consumer Protection Organization (CPO) DR Danish, senior vice president CPO, retd Colonel Ajaib Singh in their addresses urged upon the students to spread the awareness among the masses about consumer rights.
MD Trikuta Group of Colleges, Ritesh Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the students of Trikuta Group of Colleges presented a colourful programme. The highlight of the programme was the skit stressing upon the consumers to fight for their rights. The skit suggested the consumers to approach consumer protection organization in case of any problem from marketers, producers and hoarders. Those who participated in skit were Nisha Pandita, Maria Mir, Preeti Bhat, Hampreet, Nivedita and Vipul.
The welcome address was presented by Principal, PK Koul, whereas the programme was compared by Ishant Raina and Ajaib Singh presented vote of thanks.
