JAMMU, Aug 20: A protest of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) was held today at Jagti township Nagrota Jammu under the chairmanship of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita today.
Addressing the protesters, Pandita said that the left over land of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir Valley on which encroachments were made be got restored immediately by the Government and handed over to its owners immediately.
Pandita said that for the past 33 years Kashmiri Pandits have been forced to live in exile outside Valley and successive governments since then have failed to rehabilitate them in Kashmir.
He said that Pandits want to return to Kashmir and they are demanding their rehabilitation in three townships in erstwhile districts of Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla.
He also highlighted other demands of the displaced people including enhancement of cash relief, announcement of a new employment package, compensation to over aged youth and release of compensation for loss of crop by displaced orchardists and agriculturists besides, launch of on spot recruitment drive for the displaced youth in police and para military forces.
