KATHUA, Aug 20: The residents of Barmora and Sawan Chak held a protest demonstration against the attitude of Public Works Department (PWD) towards their demands.
The irate people assembled at Sawan Chak road and blocked it to register their protest against the failure of authorities to renovate the bridge which has been damaged. They were raising slogans in support of their demands.
They were demanding the repairs of Barmora bridge whose approach road is also damaged due to flood and rainfall in Khud. The newly constructed bridge is in danger to be damaged if timely repairs weren’t taken. The protestor Naresh Kumar, Mohinder Singh, Raju Singh said that local people are worried to secure the Government property as Barmora bridge which is connecting the Barmora with other areas is damaged. The approach road is also damaged and it can cause heavy loss to bridge and road which is constructed with huge amount of public money.
They said that the PWD Department and district administration is apprised about it. But no one takes care of it and ignorant attitude was adopted. After getting information of blockage of road, a police team reached on spot and tried to pacify them asking them to lift the dharna. But the protestors were adamant and refused to budge.
After some time the protestors dispersed and traffic movement on the road was restored.
