SCSSC Chowadi organizes seminar on role of different agencies in fostering geriatric care

JAMMU, Aug 20: On the eve of International Senior Citizen’s Day, Senior Citizens Service Support Club (SCSSC) Chowadi organized a seminar on ‘Role of Different Agencies in Fostering Geriatric Care’ in the Club premises.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the Club Dr Kasturi Lal Mahajan said senior citizens make up a huge number of India’s population and he believes that their happiness is important to the overall happiness of the society.
He said among every 10 men is a senior citizen in this world. “We all have one or more elderly people in our life to whom we dearly love and appreciate. International Senior Citizens Day is celebrated on 21 August every year to let them know how much we care about them and highlight their accomplishments as well,” he added.
Dr Neelika Arora (Associate Professor Central University of Jammu) and Prof Anil Gupta from Hospitality and Tourism Management (Jammu University) gave an excellent presentation on the topic. Associate Prof Nancy (MSW) added how NGOs and community partnerships can help the senior citizens.
The special guest speakers of the Seminar were honoured by presenting them with mementos. Mementos were also presented to the founder chairperson Dr Kasturi Lal, Ashok Gupta (president), Annil Suri (vice president), Maj Gen S K Sharma (general secretary), H C Vaid (finance secretary) and the core team members of the Club Management Committee by Annil Suri (Board Member, NGO SUPPORT and Dr Navneet Kour (founder chairperson, NGO SUPPORT).
“There are several advancements that are needed to improve the healthcare and productivity of older citizens, helping them to stay more active and helping them with more opportunities”, stated Dr Navneet Kour.
