SP South addresses students on dangers of drugs

JAMMU, Aug 21 : An impactful drug Awareness programme was organized at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar, Jammu, as part of the Civic Action Programme. The event was aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
Shaheen Wahid, SP City South Jammu was the chief guest. School’s principal, Anu Bhardwaj and teachers were also present during the event.
Addressing the participants, Wahid, shed light on the perils of drug addiction, the Government’s policies to combat it, the legal framework, and police actions against drug suppliers. She emphasized the importance of creating awareness among families and the community, stressing that every citizen has a role to play in creating a drug-free society.
She affirmed the police’s commitment to public welfare and encouraged students to report any suspicious activities in their vicinity.
Shaheen urged the students to channel their energy into sports and productive activities for a better future. She defined drug addiction as a compulsive behavior that’s difficult to control, leading to both physical and psychological dependency on drugs. Highlighting the progression from “use” to “abuse” and ultimately addiction, she called for collective efforts in building a drug-free society and helping the police combat drug trafficking.
The programme successfully conveyed the critical message of preventing drug abuse among the youth and fostering a safer and healthier community.
