SRINAGAR/JAMMU, June 21 : The demise of founder Director of NIA R V Raju was who breathed his last this morning widely condoled.
Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana has expressed his grief and sorrow on the sad demise of Mr. Raju who served in J&K Police in various capacities before taking over as head of NIA.
Rana conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Raju and the family.
On behalf of officers and officials of Kashmir Zone, Inspector General of Police Kashmir SM Sahai condoled the sad demise of R V Raju. In his condolence message IGP said that the nation in general and J&K Police in particular has lost an ace police officer in the form of Mr. Raju who was the epitome of dedication and professionalism. He has prayed for the peace of the departed soul and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family.
Another condolence meeting was held at the Office of Institution of Studies Learning and Analysis in memory of its Executive Director and Former Director General of Police R V Raju.
The meeting was chaired by the Director S M Sahai. The participants remembered the contribution of the Late Executive Director who was instrumental in formation of the society and the concept of a vision of its progress and development at par with the national level policy think tanks on administration, development, governance, law & order, art, culture, knowledge management besides the issues touching the everyday social life of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides the staff of the office, members of the Executive Committee S M Mujtaba, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad, S A H Bukhari, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood and S G M Andrabi also attended the condolence meeting. Expressing sympathy with the bereaved family, a two minute silence was observed in memory of the departed soul.
A condolence meeting was also organised at SSG Headquarter J&K, Srinagar in remembrance of Mr. Raju. Director SSG J&K. H.K Lohia termed the sad demise of R.V Raju as a great loss to the Police Department as he was known for his professionalism, simplicity and caring nature. The condolence meeting was attended by all SSG staff.
On hearing the sad & untimely demise of Mr Raju, a legendary Police Officer, who served in J&K in various capacities, a condolence meeting was organized at District Police Lines here this morning by Dilbag Singh, IGP Jammu Zone.
The Condolence meet was attended by officers and Jawans of various Wings of J&K Police, retired Police officers, senior & prominent citizen and media persons in which the services of the officer were highlighted and remembered. Two minute silence was also observer and prayers were offered for peace of the departed soul and grant of courage and fortitude to the family to bear this irreparable loss. Floral tributes were also paid to the departed soul on this occasion.
Dilbag Singh, while paying his homage to Mr Raju highlighted the qualities of head and heart of the officer. He said that it was a pride for J&K Police that he was chosen to be the first Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India, because of his investigation skills par excellence. Earlier also he was selected and entrusted with the investigation of murder of former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi who was killed in suicide blast. Police Officers while offering prayers said, “Sir, you always live with us in our memories and your guidance was always leading us to the light of truth, justice and betterment of the society”. They also pledged to tread on the path shown by late officer.
The other officers, senior citizens and other retired Officers who paid tributes to departed soul were J.P.Singh, Youginder Kaul,, IGP Home Gaurds /CD, DIG Jammu Range, Johni William, DIG Armed Jammu, Surinder Gupta, DIG CID, Prabhat Singh, SSP Jammu, Vijay Singh Samyal, Commandant IRP 10th Bn, Yashpaul Gupta, senior & prominent Citizens, Sardar Khan, retired SP, J.K.Mishri, retired SP. On this occasion around 200 Officers/Jawans/retired Police Officers/Media persons/prominent & senior citizens penned down their deep condolences and expressed their solidarity with the bereaved family members of this one of the most professional and finest Police Officers of the Country.
