3 killed, another injured as dumper rolls down

UDHAMPUR, Aug 24: Three persons were killed and another got seriously injured when a dumper rolled down in deep gorge at village Miani, Battu Nallah in Dudu.

The dumper loaded with bricks, bearing registration number JK14H-9177, was on its way to Basantgarh from Udhampur when it met with the accident at village Miani, Battu Nallah in Dudu, this morning. Due to bad condition of the road, driver lost control over the vehicle, which rolled down into deep gorge, resulting into on the death of three persons and critical injuries to another one.
After receiving information, a police party led by SHO Latti Inspector Zulfikar Ali rushed to the spot and launched rescue operation and shifted the injured person to Latti PHC. Dead bodies of the deceased were also shifted to the PHC for postmortem.
The deceased were identified as Sandeep Singh, son of Sansar Singh, resident of Roun Domail, Udhampur; Kewal Sharma, son of Ramesh Chander, resident of Kathar Jammu and Sumit Attri, son of Raju Attri of Kashirah Udhampur.
The injured, who was later referred to District Hospital Udhampur, was identified as Ravi Kumar, son of Jagdesh Chander, resident of Mang Basantgarh.
Meanwhile, body of 21 year old Sunil Kumar, son of Mohan Lal of Dabreh Udhampur, who had drowned yesterday while taking bath in Tawi River near Baba Paidh Temple, was fished out today by NDRF team and Udhampur Police.
The search operation for locating the body had been suspended last evening at 8.30 pm due to darkness and was resumed this morning.
