Protests held across Jammu for 4th consecutive day

JAMMU, Aug 24: Extending solidarity with the agitating people of Jammu expressing their anger over collection of Toll Tax at Sarore Toll Plaza and installation of Smart Meters, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu today gave one day bandh call on August 26.

The announcement in this regard was made by Jammu CCI, president, Arun Kumar Gupta at a press conference here today. He said Chamber earlier held a meeting with the representatives of different market associations in which the issue was discussed threadbare and they authorised him to take final decision in this regard.
He said that traders were of the opinion that the Jammu bandh can be only solution to get the demands solved and members extended full support to him in this regard.
He said all the business establishments will remain closed in Jammu on August 26 in support of Jammu bandh to force the Government to concede the genuine demands including the removal of Sarore Toll Plaza and halting the installation of so called Smart Meters which have added to woes of poor masses.

Shiv Sena Udhav Thackeray led by Manish Sahni and Hindu Shiv Sena led by Krishan Manhas besides the other organizations have extended full support to Chamber’s call of Jammu bandh and have appealed the people to observe dawn to dusk bandh on that day and show solidarity with cause of Jammu and to take the agitation launched by Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) to its logical conclusion.
Meanwhile, the Beopar Mandal Samba and Ghagwal have given a call for tomorrow bandh in the respective towns in support of agitation launched by YRS. The call has been given by the Beopar Mandal Samba president, Tejinder Singh. He said the Samba Beopar Mandal has decided to run the agitation in phased manner till it reaches to its logical conclusion.
In support of YRS demand, the Bari Brahmana town observed a complete bandh today and all the shops and other business establishments in the town remained closed during the day in support of YRS demand.
In addition to this various organizations have joined the YRS demand and extended their full support to the Sabha for suspension of Toll Plaza at Sarore and demanded immediate release of its arrested leaders and protests were held across the Jammu region on fourth consecutive day today also.
J&K High Court Bar Association held a massive protest at High Court Complex here today in support of YRS demand. The protestors reiterated their demands regarding removal of Sarore Toll Plaza and release of arrested leaders of YRS while extending their full support to their agitation.
The Bar president Advocate, Vikram Sharma said that the cause of Jammu is always paramount to them and they will continue to fight for the rights of people of the region.
Over 200 Congress activists led by former Deputy CM Tara Chand and party spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma held a protest demonstration in front of District Jail, Kathua demanding immediate release of arrested leaders of YRS. They termed the Sarore Toll Plaza illegal and demanded its immediate removal to provide succor to commuters and transporters.
Raising slogans in support of the demand, the Congress leaders said that the party fully supports the demand of YRS and will continue the struggle till Toll Plaza at Sarore is removed.
A delegation of Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP) led by former MLA, Kanta Andotra and Rajinder Singh called on District Development Commissioner, Kathua today and demanded immediate release of the leaders of Yuva Rajput Sabha who have been put in Kathua Jail. They told reporters that they will not allow any harassment of Dogra youth and demanded their release within two hours failing which they will launch agitation.
A protest was held by the Beopar Mandal Samba led by its president, Tejinder Singh and other organizations at Samba town today in support of YRS demand. The protestors demanded immediate release of YRS leaders and suspension of Sarore TP.
Eight prominent people of Samba representing various organizations including Sarpanch, Ravinder Singh Lavloo, Ward 17 Corporator, Maheshwar Singh, Lucky Sambyal, Sugrev Singh, Arun Sambyal, Mohan Singh Sambyal, Amandeep Singh Sambyal and Deeraj Singh Guloria sat on indefinite hunger strike at Samba town in support of YRS today.
At Purmandal Morh in Samba district the irate people blocked National Highway and staged a demonstration in support of YRS demand. The protestors were also demanding immediate release of arrested leaders.
NC activists led by senior party leader and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra held a protest at Nardani in Bantalab area in support of YRS demand. With placards in their hands the protestors were demanding immediate suspension of TP at Sarore and release of arrested leaders.
Another protest was held by party in front of Sher-e- Kashmir Bhawan Residency Road today in which a large number of activists of the party participated demanding removal of TP at Sarore.
Purani Mandi Market Association also held a strong protest demanding immediate release of arrested YRS leaders.
Another protest was held at Seri Panditan by the activists of YRS and other organizations. The protestors blocked the road by burning tyre tubes and staged a massive demonstration in support of YRS.
Protest was held by Statehood Mission Jammu led by Sunil Dimple at New Plots today. The protestors torched the effigy of NHAI and demanded immediate release of arrested leaders. Dimple extended full support to bandh call of August 26 and asked people to observe a complete bandh on that day to show solidarity with the demand of YRS.
Shri Amarkshatriya Rajput Sabha has also expressed its solidarity with YRS and has urged Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to consider the waiving off Sarore Toll Plaza and quash the FIR against the detained leaders of YRS.
Aam Admi Party leader, Appu Singh while extending full support to the YRS has termed the Sarore TP totally illegal and demanded that it be removed without any further delay.
Rajesh Gupta chief of Jammu Warriors Front (JWF) has also demanded release of arrested leaders of YRS. He accused the BJP Government of harassing the general public raising their voices for their rights.
J&K Jatt Sabha has demanded an end to Toll Tax Collection at Sarore. President of the Sabha Manjit Singh has called for immediate intervention of Central Government in this regard.
Nami Dogri Sanstha president Harish Kaila has demanded immediate removal of Sarore Toll Plaza and made an appeal to LG Manoj Sinha in this regard.
