3 notorious drug smugglers booked under NDPS Act

Srinagar, Aug 25: Police today booked three notorious drug smugglers under the PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
With this, the total number of such individuals booked under the act reached 54 so far during the ongoing year in the district.
Police said that the three accused drug smugglers namely Rouf Ahmad Wani son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Roshanabad Pinjoora Kunzer, Bashir Ahmad Malla son of Abdul Razzaq resident of Dhobiwan Kunzer & Farooq Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohiuddin Mir resident of Zaspora Tangmarg have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act.
“It was done after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu,” police said.
Police said that there are many cases registered against these drug smugglers and were involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Pinjoora, Kunzer, Dhobiwan, Zaspora, Tangmarg and other areas of District Baramulla.
“Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth.”
