JAMMU, June 21: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president Tulsi Das Langeh today accused the Coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah of not being serious in holding the elections to Municipal Corporations, urban local bodies and Block Development Councils in the State.
In a statement issued here today he ridiculed the reports of Coordination Committee meeting organized by the Coalition Government in this regard under the chairmanship of Congress president Siaf-ud-Din Soz and said that the civic body elections which are over due for over two and half years are being delayed by the Government for unknown reasons.
He accused both Congress and NC of murdering the democracy in the state by delaying the elections to basic institutes of democracy. “This Government is totally making hollow claims of strengthening the basic institutes of democracy in the state as till date it has failed to implement to 74th and 73rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution” he added.
Delaying the elections to municipalities and civic local bodies shows the intentions of the coalition as it is afraid of the opposition parties, he said.
Langeh cautioned the people against the designs of the Coalition Government and urged them to be ready for a struggle against the anti peoples policies and anti democratic policies of Coalition Government.
