Dhillon appointed IIT Board of Governors chairman

SRINAGAR, Aug 27:
Retired Lieutenant General and former head of the Army’s strategic 15 Corps, Lt Gen Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
Dhillon, also known as “Tiny Dhillon”, has been appointed for three years from August 25, 2023 by the President of India, officials said.
Lt Gen Dhillon commanded the prestigious 15 Corps during the most challenging environment of 2019 Pulwama IED blast, Balakote air strikes and abrogation of Articles 370 & 35A.
He also served as DG Defence Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff under the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) responsible for International Military Cooperation and strategic intelligence before superannuation on January 31, 2022. Dhillon has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal during his Army career spanning 39 years. He has also authored the first book of his life, a National Bestseller already, ‘Kitne Ghazi Aaye Kitne Ghazi Gaye’.
Army veteran Dhillon was commissioned into 4 Rajputana Rifles in December 1983. (UNI)
