JAMMU, Aug 30: LIC Class-1 officers under the banner of Federation of LIC Class-1 Officers’ Association led by its Secretary, Vijay Khajuria and president Jatinder Bhat, Development Officers under the banner of NFIFWI led by its president, Rakesh Magotra, and LIC Class-3&4 employees under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association led by Divisional Secretary, Pawan Gupta and president, Fayaz Ah Gul held massive demonstrations today across LIC offices of Jammu & Kashmir in support of their long pending demands.
Speaking on the occasion at D.O. Cell Jammu before a large gathering, the leaders lambasted the Central Government for not increasing the family pension to 30% of Basic Pay, in spite of the fact that the LIC Board has already recommended it since nearly four years. It is the gross injustice to the widows of the deceased employees because all other institutions like Banks and Government employees are already getting the family pension at rate of 30% of basic pay; while in LIC ,Widows are getting it at merely 15% of Basic pay.
It was also stressed that, in case of employees appointed on or after 01-04-2010 who are under NPS, the employers’ contribution must be raised to 14% from the current rate of 10%; and this case to increase the contribution to 14% has also been pending with the Central Government. The wage revision of LIC employees has also been pending since August 1, the charter has been submitted with the Management, but no negotiations have started till now.
The demonstration also emphasised the demand to start the negotiations on wage revision at the earliest. It was also demanded strongly for the recruitment in all cadres for infusion of young blood in the organisation.
The leaders strongly condemned the unilateral attitude of the management and warned of intensified agitation in reaction to it. Others who spoke- Raj Kumar Sharma, Shreshtha Sharma, Priya Sharma, Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Jasbir Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Shunali Gupta, Neeraj Bhagat etc.
