JKAACL organises multilingual Mushaira on Ghulam Rasool Kamgar

JAMMU, Aug 30: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) orchestrated a poignant tribute to the Urdu and Kashmiri poet, late Ghulam Rasool Kamgar (Kishtwari), through a Multilingual Mushaira held at KL Saigal Hall in Jammu.
The event commemorated the cherished literary legacy of Kawaja Ghulam Rasool Kamgar, born in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, in 1888.
Kamgar’s profound educational journey encompassed Persian, Arabic, Urdu, and Mathematics, under the tutelage of Maulana Saifullah. This holistic education paved the way for his prolific expressions in both prose and poetry.
Renowned for his contributions to Kashmiri literature, Kamgar infused classical Arabic and Persian nuances into his work.
His literary distinction earned him accolades including Robes of Honour & Certificate of Merit in Persian (by the President of India), Robes of Honour from Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, and recognition from Riasti Cultural Sangam J&K.
Secretary JKAACL, Bharat Singh, inaugurated the event by welcoming distinguished guests and dignitaries.
He underlined the significance of paying homage to Kamgar’s illustrious legacy, noting that such luminaries enrich our understanding of history and life.
Prof Shohab Anayat Malik graced the event as the chief guest, while BN Betab presided over the proceedings.
Guest of Honour, Khalid Hussain, also contributed to the event. Notably, Wali Mohammad Aseer Kishtawari delivered a research paper that delved into the literary contributions of Late Kamgar Kishtawari.
The event transitioned into a captivating Multilingual Mushaira, where accomplished poets and writers shared their verses.
The lineup included notable figures like Wali Mohammad Aseer Kishtwari, Dildar Mohan, Mohammad Amin Banihali, Dr Shehnaz Qadri, Dr Liyaqat Jafri, Prof Mohammad Assadullah Wani, and more.
The poetic recitations spanned various languages and captivated the audience.
Dr Shenaz Qadri, HoD Urdu at MAM College, conducted the proceedings. The evening reached its conclusion with Dr Shahnawaz, Editor-cum-Cultural Officer of Gojri, JKAACL, expressing gratitude through the vote of thanks.
