SAMBA, Aug 30: Congress leader and former Minister Yashpal Kundal, along with DDC Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony, launched a scathing critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly betraying the trust of the people in the Jammu region.
In a resounding display of dissent against the administration’s perceived anti-people policies, a sizable protest unfolded in Ramgarh today, spearheaded by Tony and Yashpal Kundal.
Yashpal Kundal seized the opportunity to voice the mounting grievances of the people in Jammu.
Expressing his deep concern, he decried the apparent step-motherly treatment meted out to the region by the current dispensation. Kundal squarely blamed the BJP leadership for their alleged inability to safeguard the rights of the people in Jammu, emphasizing the urgency of rectifying this precarious situation.
“The existing government has morphed into a regime marked by burdensome taxes, a proliferation of toll plazas, and spiralling inflation,” Kundal asserted.
Taranjit Singh Tony, DDC of Suchetgarh, echoed Kundal’s sentiment, expressing profound disappointment with the government’s actions that seemingly contradict the aspirations of the Jammu populace.
Tony underscored that despite the people of Jammu taking to the streets, the Government remains unyielding.
He drew attention to the mounting frustration stemming from inflated power bills linked to the installation of smart meters in Jammu.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the Sarore toll plaza’s establishment flouts NHAI norms, a fact reinforced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Parliament. However, the Government’s inertia in removing the toll plaza remains evident.
Tony urged the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to urgently address these concerns for the collective welfare of the people.
Joined by a passionate crowd of protesters, Kundal and Tony presented a memorandum to the Tehsildar Ramgarh.
This memorandum encapsulated the multifaceted grievances of the Jammu populace and implored swift action in response. The intention was to forward these concerns to the Lieutenant Governor for immediate attention.
The protest garnered support from District President Sanju Sharma, Youth leader Mandeep Choudhary, Babble Gupta, and numerous community members who united to amplify their collective voice.
