More services under e-Transport project

The Transport Department of Jammu and Kashmir expanded its roster of online services by adding 16 new offerings as part of the e-Transport project. These unveiled services are aimed at easing the burden on citizens by enabling them to access them from the comfort of their homes. The administration is stressing streamlining service delivery to citizens without the need for physical visits to Government offices. The introduction of these online services is indeed a significant development, as it eliminates the need for people to make multiple visits to RTO offices to complete various formalities. This move simplifies and streamlines several processes, except the practical driving trial for obtaining a license. People can now conveniently apply for services and check the status of their applications online, reducing the inconvenience and time spent on in-person visits. Moreover, the online platform allows citizens to track the progress of their applications, and if there are delays beyond a certain timeframe, they can escalate the matter to higher authorities for resolution. This transparency and accountability in service delivery will enhance overall customer satisfaction.
While it’s acknowledged that the transport sector may still have certain issues that cannot be fully addressed through online services, this initiative represents a significant step towards improving efficiency and reducing the need for physical file movement. RTO offices are often responsible for multitasking and serving citizens at various locations, and the online approach can substantially assist them in managing their tasks more effectively. Continuous improvement and feedback from citizens are crucial for refining and optimising existing and upcoming online services. The fact that the list of services has already encompassed a wide range of offerings is a positive step towards meeting the diverse needs of the public. Monitoring by higher authorities is indeed vital to ensuring the effectiveness and responsiveness of these online services. Simplifying processes for citizens and improving the operational efficiency of RTO offices is the ultimate aim.
