LEH, Sept 2: To review the progress of ongoing projects and the issues faced by heads of various departments, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with Departmental Secretaries and Head of Departments at Raj Niwas.
During the meeting issues including the procurement of dehairing machine; the additions and modifications in the Homestay Policy; ensuring power supply, telecom connectivity, tourism activities and repairing of roads in border areas of Ladakh; the change in bus timing/additional bus supply for the ease and convenience of passengers; the delay in the infrastructure development work allotted to Central Public Works Department (CPWD); the criteria mentioned in recruitment rules for the post of Junior Assistants; the progress on the establishment of Medical and Engineering Colleges in Ladakh along with the Government Degree College at Drass; the location of Sindhu Central University; the progress on the declaration of result of Staff Selection Commission exams; the recruitment rules for gazetted posts shared with Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for their concurrence; the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) elections in Ladakh; the engagement of helicopter service in Ladakh; the vacant posts of IAS officers; the establishment of Sainik School in Ladakh; the rationalisation of boundaries of Wildlife Sanctuaries in Ladakh; the progress on implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in Ladakh; the clearance of garbage from Ladakh; the re-enactment of Provident Funds Act, 1925; drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to grant compensation to civilian victims of Cross Border Firing and Mine/IED blasts; the attachment of teachers; the case of election symbol filed in Supreme Court and the High Court of J&K and Ladakh; the progress in the rape and attempted murder of a minor girl were discussed in detail.
LG Mishra also instructed the concerned officials to ensure that the citizens of Ladakh living in rural households have access to drinking water through functional household tap connections by October 1, 2023 under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
During the meeting, Advisor to LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; ADGP Ladakh Police, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IPS; Commissioner Secretary, Padma Angmo, IIS; Commissioner Secretary, Mehboob Ali Khan, IRS; Secretary to HLG, Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Secretary, Michael D’Souza, IAS; Secretary, Fayaz Shaikh; Head of Departments and other concerned officials were also present.
