Srinagar, Sept 3: Two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were arrested in Baramulla district today.
A police spokesman said that a joint team of security forces including 52 RR, SSB 2nd Bn and SOG Kreeri apprehended two OGWs during naka checking at Sharakwara and recovered one pistol, one hand grenade and 15 pistol rounds from their possession.
A case (FIR no. 111/23 under Section 7/25 IAAct 13,20,23,18 ULAP Act) has been registered against them in Police Station Kreeri.
They have been identified as Momin Amin Bhat, 22, resident of Sheeri, a bread maker by profession and Touseef Ramzan Bhat, 20, of Sheeri, a domestic worker by profession.
The spokesman said that during the investigation, Moien Amin Bhat alias Momin revealed that he is in touch with foreign militant Usman. He had met Usman and treated him when he was injured in “Operation Taripora Wansran”.
“He has also provided logistic support to Usman and Hilal Ahmed Sheikh numerous times,” the spokesman added.
“He said that Tawseef Ramazan Bhat was in touch with Pakistani handlers of Al -Badar and had identified the non-locals in the area for the purpose of targeted killing and kept a watch over convoy movement and their timings, conducted recce of nearest Army camp and other security establishments and their vehicle movements,” the spokesman added.
“They further revealed that they were constantly in touch with LeT handlers and passed all the information to Pakistani handler Sajid Ali in Pakistan. They were about to get active as terrorists after carrying out an attack on security forces and targeted killings,” he said.
