JAMMU, Sept 4: University of Jammu (JU) today organized a curtain raiser press conference on the eve of its foundation day to be celebrated on 5th September.
Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor (VC) of JU while chairing the press conference shared that Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor J&K and Chancellor of the University shall be the chief guest on the occasion while Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to LG, shall be the guest of honour.

The VC further informed that the first of its kind in the history of J&K, the Community Radio established in the University of Jammu shall be inaugurated by the LG on the foundation day. “This community radio shall act as a medium to promote, propagate and disseminate the polyvocal and polylingual voices of various stakeholders of the University and act as site of exchange for various ideas culminating in motivating the people to participate in integrated development of the country,” he said.
Earlier, Prof Rajni Kant, Dean Research Studies, said that the foundation day is an occasion to retrace the glorious past of the University and honour the contribution of its employees who have contributed in various capacities in this progress of the University.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra (Director, DD&OE), while addressing the media shared that the Directorate of Distance and Online Education has launched online MCom and MA(English) courses making the JU first in the UT to offer such online programmes under UGC-DEB regulations 2020. She further shared that the Business School has launched a two-year Executive MBA program in blended mode that is first of its kind in J&K.
Prof Meena Sharma (Dean Planning) and Prof Rahul Gupta (Registrar, JU) also spoke on the occasion.
The programme was conducted by Dr Vinay Thussoo (Incharge Media) and the welcome address was delivered by Dr Garima Gupta (convener, media and publicity committee).
