UDHAMPUR, Sept 4: Continuing its campaign against drugs and narcotics, Udhampur Police recovered 10.170 kilograms of contraband poppy straw at Jakhani (NHW) under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur today.
Police team of Police Station Udhampur led by Insp Raghubir Singh (SHO), under the supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and DySP Hqrs, Gurmeet Singh intercepted a vehicle for checking at Jakhani, The vehicle bearing registration No. JK02DF-0785 was made coming from Kashmir valley towards Udhampur.
During checking of said vehicle, Police team recovered 10.170 kgs of poppy straw and arrested one narco smuggler. He was identified as Balal Ahmed (driver), son of Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of Bhomag, in Reasi.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 458/2023 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
