First computerized settlement work launched in Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 28: In a big initiative to expedite the settlement work, first computerized settlement work has been launched from village Airanpur of tehsil Akhnoor.
Rajesh Kumar, Shavan, Regional Director Survey and Land Records who is ex-officio Settlement Officer visited along with Tehsildar Akhnoor Vijay Sharma, Naib Tehsildars and other revenue officials and launched  the programme by installing two ETS machines.
The Regional Director said that by the use of latest  technology and software the entire process has been streamlined and facilitated data generation to  enhance the pace of work. A village which on an average took 1 year by manual method will now be covered  approximately in 4 to 5 months.
In village, Airanpur there is a target of approximately 450 Khasra numbers to be measured for which record is to be prepared. The people of the area have highly appreciated the efforts of the Government and assured full cooperation with the revenue agency.
It is pertinent to mention that Government has taken various measures to expedite the settlement work.   Chief Minister had also directed for time bound  completion of settlement work in State.
The Settlement Commissioner A L Deva assured that all efforts are being made to mobilize the resources and manpower to  prepare  error free record. Government has created Regional Directorates to monitor the work closely and even the SDMs have been delegated the powers of Assistant Settlement Officers in their respective jurisdictions enabling them to verify and authenticate the records at Sub-Divisional/Tehsil Headquarter.
In tehsil Akhnoor  three villages namely Airanpur, Darh, Chak Tagwal and Badhan have been selected in first stage  for completion of settlement by the latest technology.
