KATHUA, Sept 5: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Minister, Rajiv Jasrotia has emphasized the duty of every citizen to honour the sacrifices of martyrs.
He believes that active participation in the nationwide ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign is the most fitting tribute to these heroes.
During a visit to the home of Surinder Sharma, who martyred during Operation Rakshak in 2000 in Srinagar, Jasrotia reiterated the importance of this patriotic initiative.
As part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ program, designed to honour martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the nation, Jasrotia and others visited the martyr’s residence and collected soil from the premises. This soil will be sent to the National Capital.
In his address, Rajiv Jasrotia paid heartfelt tributes to Surinder Sharma and highlighted that this campaign, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, involves collecting soil from the homes, surroundings, statues, and memorials of martyrs at various locations across the nation, including Jammu & Kashmir.
This soil will contribute to the creation of ‘Amrit Vatika’ in front of Rashtrapati Bhawan on ‘Kartavya Path’ (formerly known as Rajpath).
Jasrotia emphasized that these initiatives, under the slogan “Mitti Ko Naman, Veeron Ka Vandan,” aim to celebrate 77 years of Indian Independence. Kalash Yatras, transporting soil in 7500 urns, including those collected from Jammu and Kashmir, will ultimately reach Delhi to merge with the soil at ‘Amrit Vatika.’
He urged the people of the nation to join the campaign and pay tribute to the ultimate sacrifices made by the Military, Para, Police, and other forces in the service of the nation and its people.
Prominent individuals accompanying Rajiv Jasrotia included Dr Narinder Singh, Ashok Jasrotia, Vidya Sagar, Councilor Ravinder Pathania, Sardar JP Singh, Gian Singh, Ajay Singh, Ajay Gupta, and TR Bhagat.
