Works include bridges, tunnels, helipads

JAMMU, Sept 5: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to inaugurate 90 critical infrastructure projects developed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) on September 12 in Samba district.
Rajnath Singh will visit Samba district to inaugurate one of the projects physically and the rest virtually. He will also attend North Tech Symposium.
The projects to be inaugurated by the Defence Minister encompass a diverse range of developments, with a focus on enhancing India’s border infrastructure along the northern and western borders.
The projects include 21 new roads, 64 bridges, one tunnel, two airstrips, and two helipads. Among these, the Devak bridge on the Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur road holds special significance in Jammu and Kashmir. It forms an integral part of the 90 infrastructure projects initiated by the BRO. The inauguration of these projects is expected to significantly boost connectivity and accessibility in the region.
The Defence Minister will also attend North Tech Symposium at IIT-Jammu.
This latest endeavour follows the inauguration of the Siyom bridge, including an array of others, in Arunachal Pradesh in January 2023. This bridge, along with 27 other infrastructure projects, were completed by the BRO at a cost of 724 crore rupees. The Siyom bridge, located on the Along-Yingkiong Road, is strategically vital as it facilitates the swift deployment of troops, heavy equipment, and mechanised vehicles to forward areas of the Upper Siang district, Tuting, and Yingkiong regions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Additionally, 21 bridges, three roads, and three other infrastructure projects in various States, including Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Punjab, and Rajasthan, were virtually inaugurated by Singh from the Siyom bridge site.
