JAMMU, Sept 5: The Range Police Headquarters Jammu on Monday launched a comprehensive drug awareness campaign with the goal of creating a drug-free community.
This program was part of the civic action programme under the leadership of DIG Jammu-Samba- Kathua Range, Shakti Kumar Pathak.
Recognizing the increasing concern over drug abuse and its detrimental effects on society, the campaign kicked off at Bagh-E-Bahu.
To effectively convey the message of combating substance abuse, Nukad Natak (street theater) performances were organized through Nav Durga Kala Manch and Dogri Sanstha. These talented teams conveyed their anti-drug message to students and the community at large.
The event was attended by the staff and students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Bahu Fort, as well as civil society members from the surrounding area.
The program commenced with a warm welcome for Chief Guest Rajinder Kumar Katoch, SSP, SO to DIG Jammu, and Guest of Honour SP South, Shaheen Wahid.
Rajinder Singh Katoch, in his address, highlighted that RPHQ Jammu has initiated this drug awareness program, starting from Maa Bawe Wali Mandir.
He emphasized that RPHQ will organize similar programs in the jurisdiction of each Police Station in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua Districts. He encouraged students to engage in sports and cultural activities while staying away from drugs and negative influences.
Guest of Honour Shaheen Wahid, Rajeev Charak (President Development Committee Jammu), Dr Mohammad Majid, and Dr Gurpreet Kour (Assistant Professor from Women College Parade Jammu) praised RPHQ Jammu for this initiative and motivated students to avoid drugs and bad habits while actively participating in sports and education.
The event featured Dogri and Hindi poems by Susheel Begana and Randheer Singh Rajpuria, highlighting the adverse effects of drugs. ASI Tarsem Lal from RPHQ, Jammu, played a pivotal role in conducting the program.
Members of the general public, civil society, school staff, and students expressed their appreciation for Jammu and Kashmir Police’s efforts in organizing this program.
The program concluded with a pledge taken by students, school staff, dignitaries, civil society members, the general public, and all employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to stand united against drug abuse.
