Washington, Sept 6: SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said Tuesday the company was waiting for the approval of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to launch another Starship spacecraft.
“Starship is ready to launch, awaiting FAA license approval,” Musk said on X (formerly known as Twitter).
SpaceX said on X earlier in the day that it had “fully stacked Starship on the launch pad at Starbase” in Texas.
SpaceX carried out the first combined launch of the Starship spacecraft and the Super Heavy first-stage booster in April. The spacecraft was deliberately blown up during the test flight after it began to lose altitude when multiple engines failed. The spacecraft climbed to an apogee of about 39 kilometers (24 miles) over the Gulf of Mexico, which is the highest point any Starship spacecraft has reached to date.
Musk said in late June that SpaceX would launch another Starship spacecraft in about six weeks, adding that the new launch has about a 60% probability of making it to orbit.
