JAMMU, Sept 6: Dubbing the BJP-controlled administration in Jammu and Kashmir as a non-performing liability, former MLA and senior Congress leader Indu Pawar on Wednesday said that all claims of the Government appear only on papers.
Addressing a series of public meetings in ward number one of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in connection with the mass contact programme of the party to educate people about anti-poor policies of the BJP-controlled administration, Pawar said that all programmes and policies of the government were confined only on papers.
With much publicity, the incumbent government in J&K has launched and implemented numerous welfare schemes but these schemes are confined only to papers and not visible on the grounds.
“All achievements of the J&K government appear only on the papers because except for getting cheap publicity this regime has done nothing to solve the problems of the common masses”, she said and pointed towards hardship faced by the helpless people in getting widows and old-age pensions.
Ridiculing government claims of bringing transparency and accountability in the administration, she regretted that in the name of providing online services, the administration has adopted a cruel approach to verifying pension cases of widows and old age.
She said that this government has failed to come up to the expectations of the people of the State. She said this regime has indulged in deceitful tactics to fool the people. She claimed that the government in J&K is a non-performer and the public is not happy. The common man is suffering due to the price rise of essential goods, there is large-scale unemployment and youth are frustrated, she added.
Senior Congress leader and former PYC president Pranab Shagotra charged the administration of the Union Territory (UT) with pursuing anti-poor policies. He said that every section of the society is bearing the brunt of the anti-people policies of the present regime but youth are the worst victims. He, however, warned that the youth of J&K will oppose such policies tooth and nail.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Atul Sharma, Chander Sheikher, Madhu Abrol, Rajesh Khosla, Anoop Gupta and Ricky Dalotra.
