Col Mahan kick-starts work on 3.3 km NABARD Road in Danna Panchayat

KATHUA, Sep 6: Fulfilling the 75-year-long dream of the people of the remote Danna Panchayat in the Keedia Gandyal Block, which falls under the Kandi region, Colonel Mahan Singh (Retired), DDC Chairman Kathua, along with DDC Member Dr Kumari Shaveta, inaugurated the construction work of 3.3-kilometer NABARD road today.
The Road is being constructed at a cost of Rs 4.64 crore, connecting the famous Mata Jaishree Temple in the region. The Project will be executed by the Kathua PWD Division over the next 18 months.
In addition to the DDC Chairman and the local DDC Member, SE PWD Kathua-Samba zone Dinesh Nayyer, Gopal Mahajan (BJP district president), ND Tripathi (DDC Member), Ajay Kumar, Capt Krishan Singh, Tribal youth leader Mohd Sharif, Sarpanchs, PRI members, and local residents were present in large numbers.
The event witnessed an emotional scene as village elders, including Prem Singh, Tez Singh, Amar Singh Kanaria, Hem Raj and Tilak Raj Sharma, all in their 80s and 90s, saw their continuous struggle for a concrete road come true with the DDC Chairman cutting the ribbon and breaking a traditional coconut amid applause and shouting of slogans in praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking on this momentous occasion, Col Mahan expressed gratitude to PM, MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and LG Manoj Sinha for making funds available for rural connectivity and bringing cheer to the rural folks. He emphasized that the Kathua DDC Council is committed to serving the public and ensuring sustainable development throughout the entire district.
