JAMMU, Sept 9: Continuing the campaign to provide better development as well as basic facilities to the people, Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria along with corporator, Narinder Singh, started the construction of deep drain at Ward 70, Sainik Colony in RS Pura-Jammu South constituency today.
This construction work will be executed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Mayor, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that with construction of this deep drain in the area, the people will get respite from the problems being faced by them, particularly in the rainy season.
The Deputy Mayor said that this was a long pending demand of the area which has been fulfilled today. While he appreciated corporator, Narinder Singh for his efforts said that he is trying to get development in the deprived areas. He always worries about the development related problems of the people of his ward, he added.
He said that development works of crores have been done in Sainik Colony and this area is also moving towards becoming a modern ward.
Deputy Mayor, while admiring the efforts of Jammu Municipal Corporation, corporators said that they are doing a great job by putting best efforts for development of their wards. He further said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is working on the agenda of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas” and to develop every corner is our responsibility.
He also interacted with the locals and listened to the area’s developmental issues. He said that the Government has launched several development works to improve the overall condition of lanes and drains, link roads, and other amenities in neglected areas. The Deputy Mayor asked locals to identify developmental needs of their respective areas so that the works can be enlisted for execution by the Government on priority. He assured that all pending development works in the area including macadamization of inner roads, repairing and construction of lanes and drains and other development works of the area would be fulfilled in a phase manner.
He stressed upon locals to avail benefits under various flagship welfare schemes and programmes launched by governments.
JMC Corporator Ward No. 70, Narinder Singh complimented Deputy Mayor for starting the work. He said that in the last five years Ward Number 70 has witnessed massive facelift through developmental works.
