Organized under the curatorship of Anupa Mehta and Anuradha Sorabjee, the Sama-Vaya Art Retreat brought together a fusion of award-winning artisans and craftsmen, including Mohan Kumar Verma, Ramesh Hengadi, and Sanjay Chitara, alongside contemporary artists Sarika Mehta, Bhairavi Modi and Kanchan Chander.
Each of the artists’ works at the exhibition vividly captured the vibrant colours of the landscape, the intricacies of local traditions and the serenity of the region’s famous spiritual sites. Students from the Fine Arts Department of Jammu and Kashmir, who came to see the artworks displayed, engaged in interactive sessions with the talented artists and exchanged ideas and experiences, further enriching the event.
Through the course of the retreat, the artists created art that was inspired by the natural beauty, spirituality and cultural richness of Jammu, Patnitop and Sanket valley; by Skyview by Empyrean, a 22-acre mountain sanctuary that seamlessly merges premium hospitality, adventure, nature, and luxury; and by Jammu’s environment, rich in flora and fauna.
