Oral health awareness programme held at GD Goenka School

JAMMU, Sept 9: Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry under the aegis of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) and under the guidance of Dr. Bhavna Kaul (Professor and Head of Department, IGGDC, Jammu) held a children health awareness programme at G.D. Goenka Public School, Jammu.
The ISPPD conducted various awareness activities regarding oral health for school teachers such as quiz competition, slogan competition and debate competition under the theme “Is Care of Primary Tooth Important”. Sanya Bansal, Director of G D Goenka Public School and the Principal, Arindam Roy Choudhury and team of teachers were present at the event.
An awareness session was conducted to convey the importance of oral hygiene and to emphasise that oral health is the gateway to general health. First aid management of traumatic dental injuries occurring during sports in school was also one of the primary topics of presentation made to the teachers. The significance of the role of a Pedodontist and how to deal with oral health of children with special health care needs including cleft patients were also highlighted.
The team of doctors at the event comprised Dr Bhavna Kaul (Prof. and Head of Department, IGGDC, Jammu), Dr Nanika Mahajan (Assistant Professor), Dr Aishwaraya Gupta, Dr. Sonam Rajput, Dr. Rumisa Nazim Kashani, Dr. Yasir Mohammad Dar, Dr. Isha Gupta(Post graduates), Aanya and Sangeeta Kumari.
