Sir,
I write to commend the recent developments in our Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, specifically the initiation of the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in all Police Stations and Police Posts. This forward-looking endeavour is in direct response to the directives set forth by the Supreme Court in December 2020, and it promises to bring about a positive transformation for our region and its citizens.
This proactive approach aligns with the Government’s dedication to swiftly implement the Supreme Court’s directives. The constitution of the Technical Appraisal Committee under Statutory Order (SO).227, dated July 9, 2021, further exemplifies the Government’s commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of our law enforcement system.
The primary objective behind these directives is to enhance accountability, transparency, and the overall functioning of our police personnel at the Police Station level. This initiative is not only a testament to the Government’s commitment to public safety but also a significant stride towards ensuring justice and fairness within our law enforcement agencies.
The installation of CCTVs in all Police Stations and Police Posts is a commendable step forward. It reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of justice and public service.
As this project progresses, it promises to benefit both the government and the general public by fostering trust, accountability, and security.
We, as citizens, applaud this initiative and eagerly anticipate the positive impact it will have on our region. We believe that these measures will help in strengthening the bond between the Government and the people it serves, ultimately leading to a safer and more just society.
