Restore OPS as confidence building measure: NMC

JAMMU, Sept 11: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president, Subash Shastri here today demanded restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in place of NPS as a confidence building measure.
In a press conference he said that many States like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Karnatka have restored the OPS in favour of employees.
“I hope that NDA Government at Centre will take a positive step in this regard as it will be a major political issue in the upcoming general election of 2024,” he maintained.
Shastri also urged PM Modi to appoint 8th Pay Commission and demanded an announcement in this regard in the upcoming special session of Parliament starting from September 18, 2023.
He further demanded the release of 18 months pending DA arrears along with 4 per cent DA due from July this year.
Shastri also demanded the regularization of daily wagers who have completed seven years of service in March 2023.
He said that monthly emoluments of daily wagers should be raised to Rs. 18,000 per month.
Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Ramesh Sharma, Ram Singh, Rakesh Padha, Ashok Khajuria, Gara Ram, Suraj Parkash, Darshan Baba, Madan Lal Bhagat, Sukhdev Singh, Mushtaq Ahmed, Lal Singh, J.P Sharma, Banarsi Dass and others were also present on the occasion.
