JAMMU, Dec 29: A group of burglars struck in the rented house of a police officer at Bohri, Talab Tillo and decamped with cash worth lakhs and valuable items when no one was present in the house as the police officer along with his family had gone to Srinagar.
“Burglars on the intervening night of December 27 and 28 struck in the house of SP CID HQ (A) Bashir Tanvil near Bohri, Talab Tillo and decamped with Rs 3 lakh cash, a camera and a watch apart from some other items,” police sources said.
They said the officer was putting up in a rented accommodation and had gone to Srinagar when the burglars struck. The burglary was noticed when the officer returned to the house.
Police have registered a case under FIR number 498 of 2013 under relevant Sections and started investigations.
Additional SP Jammu ML Kaith said police was on the job and burglary would be worked out shortly.
