JAMMU, Sept 12: Akhnoor Sports Club (ASC) paid tribute to 1965 Indo-Pak war-martyr Lieutenant Thakur Dass Sharma here today.
Wreaths were laid on the statue of the martyr by representatives of the 8 Mechanical Infantry followed by Dharam Paul Gupta, President, Rajeev Sharma, Chairperson of Akhnoor Sports Club, Mohan Lal Sharma SDPO, Akhnoor and Akhil Sadotra, SDM, Akhnoor.
Members of the Executive Body of Akhnoor Sports Club, Army personnel and prominent citizens also paid respectful floral tribute to the martyr by garlanding the statue of the martyr. The chief guest remembered the supreme sacrifice of the martyr. He also lauded the Club for promoting sports activities in Akhnoor. Dr. Vidya Sagar Verma, S.K. Sharma, General Secretary, Dr. R. C. Kashyap, Vice President, K. K. Sharma, Sports and Cultural Secretary, Raj Pal Sharma, Nav Rattan Sharma, Capt. Jugal Gupta, Raman Gupta, Sonu Malhotra, Suresh Gupta, Ashok Magotra, Vinod Sharma among many other prominent people attended the programme.
