Delegation meets State Election Commissioner

JAMMU, Sept 12: A delegation of OBC Department of Pradesh Congress Committee J&K headed by its chairman, Suresh Kumar Dogra met State Election Commissioner of J&K and submitted him a memorandum seeking political reservation of OBCs of J&K.
The delegation also demanded that some seats should be reserved for OBCs in forthcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) election in J&K.
Dogra told reporters that there are 75 JMC Wards and reservation is made from these for all the categories except OBCs which is unjust for this deprived class.
He further said that in the light of directions passed by Supreme Court of India appropriate orders should be passed to provide reservation to OBC category.
“There are many Wards which have good OBC population and these areas must be considered for political reservation to OBCs,” the Congress leader maintained.
State Election Commissioner, B.R Sharma assured that the grievances of OBCs must be taken to the concerned higher authorities for early redressal.
Those who were present in the delegation were Parshotam Mehra, VC OBC Department; Vijay Verma, general secretary OBC Department; Jagdish Kashyap, district chairman; Ajay Salgotra, Pawan Kumar, Gharu Ram, Raj Kumar, Abhishek Dogra, Janak Mehra, Ravi Mehra, Surjeet Kumar, Surinder Sodhi and others.
