GM Northern Railways stresses on increased passenger amenities

New Delhi, Sept 12: Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager, Northern Railway, today chaired a meeting of the Departmental Heads and DRMs, while stressing on an increased passenger amenities at the Railway Stations.
Particularly, he laid emphasis on extension of platforms, increase of level of platforms, washable aprons, provision of second entry, foot-over bridges, escalators, lift facility for Divyangjans, and improvement of station building include facade.
He also reviewed the progress of mobility enhancement and other developmental infrastructure works and freight loading.
During the meeting, he presented safety awards to nine vigilant employees for their contribution towards maintaining high standards for safety and security of passengers and railway property.
Chaudhuri also directed for maintenance of good record of punctuality of trains besides expediting the works related to mobility enhancement and conducting drives to check the progress.
Stressing upon the safety during the ongoing monsoon season, he directed that the obstructions, if any, are removed during the operation of the trains.
The General Manager, Northern Railways, further emphasized on electrical safety on tracks, trains and premises. He also sought completion of the ongoing projects on time.
Further, he took stock of the tree cutting activity and removal of vegetation alongside the tracks.
He also laid emphasis on minimizing the human failure in the train operations, extensive monitoring of the rail fractures and rail welds.
Speaking about the Freight Business Development, the GM, Northern Railways sought creation of an environment of trust, support and confidence amongst the customers.
He further hoped that the initiatives and concessions offered by the Railways are reaching the clients.
