NC will sweep impending ULB polls in Chenab Valley: Rattan Lal

RAMBAN, Sept 13: Observing the situation after concluding four days long tour of Chenab Valley, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC Jammu, asserted that the National Conference (NC) will sweep the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections in Chenab Valley as the present dispensation has miserably failed to stand on the expectations of general public.
While addressing party workers meetings in Banihal and Ramban here today, the senior NC leader lamented the state of affairs under the LG Administration in J&K, stating that this era would be remembered for its rampant corruption and mis-governance.
He specifically pointed out scandals in the Jal Shakti and Health Departments, as well as various recruitment scams. He accused the LG of adopting a policy of silence regarding these issues, failing to take appropriate action and address the public’s concerns.
Rattan Lal Gupta also expressed surprise over Rs 13,000 crore scam in the Jal Shakti Department which was brought to light by IAS officer Ashok Parmar. He questioned the lack of response from the LG’s administration and other investigating agencies over these scams.
As part of his four-day tour of Chenab Valley, Rattan Lal Gupta visited and covered seven Municipal Committees including Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Thatri, Bhaderwah, Batote, and Banihal. Based on his interactions with the residents and party cadres, he observed that the people are fed-up with the present Government for its alleged corruption, loot, and misgovernance.
The Provincial President asserted that the people of Chenab Valley have high hopes from the National Conference and promised that the party will provide better amenities than the present dispensation. He urged the party cadre to prepare for the upcoming ULB polls.
The meetings were convened under the chairmanship of Haji Shajjad Ahmed Shaheen, District President Ramban. He enlightened the senior functionaries of Party that the local administration in Ramban is totally nonfunctional, resulting in the suffering of general public, especially those residing in far-flung areas.
DDC Chairperson Dr Shamshad Shan, DDC Members, Bashir Ahmed Ronyal, Shameema Akhtar and Mohd Sahfi expressed their disappointment with the local administration, accusing it of being non-supportive and causing delays in development projects.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary and Pardeep Bali also spoke on the occasion. Among those who were present include Abid Magrey, Arif Mir, Mohd Shafi Zargar, Aruna Thakur and other NC functionaries.
