DIG holds meet to review enforcement of traffic rules

JAMMU, Sept 14: To review the traffic scenario in Jammu, DIG Traffic Shridhar Patil conducted a meeting of Range Traffic police officers here today.
At the outset of the meeting, DIG congratulated the officers for their outstanding performance on the successful completion of Shri Amarnath Ji, Shri Budda Amarnath Ji and Machail Mata yatras despite challenging conditions.
The senior officer held a detailed review of enforcement of the traffic rules by police officers and rewarded the officers whose performance in the enforcement work remained outstanding during the month of August.
Patil stressed to lay special focus on the 13 major traffic violations which were major issues causing inconvenience to and for the safety of people viz. over-speeding/dangerous driving, non-wearing of crash helmet, use of mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of liquor, drive under age, wrong parking, red light jumping, overloading goods carrier, overloading of passenger, triple riding, HSRP etc.
He asked SSsP of traffic police range Jammu to constitute Accident Response Teams (ARTs) in their respective areas involving members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, members of local bodies, volunteers and other stakeholders for each black spot which is prone to accidents to initiate and follow the process of rectification of black spots to prevent accidents and to provide immediate response in case of accidents for saving precious lives.
The meeting was attended by Rohit Baskotra, SSP Traffic NHW Ramban, Vinay Kumar SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, Fiesel Qureshi SSP Traffic City Jammu and all Dy.SsP of Traffic Police Range Jammu.
